HSJ returned to the “The Garden” at the Board Room in Kailua for Valentine’s Day, 2026. We had great sound, no rain, a banging poster by Kenna Zohner, and we livened up the festivities with “Hardly Strictly Jerry Bingo”:

The goal was to get 4 in a row by noticing us singing the lyric from a square, for which you would receive a free HSJ sticker. (The diagonal made a bingo.) No one redeemed their bingo card at the end of the night, but people seemed to enjoy the idea.

We also had a merch table with HSJ t-shirts and stickers. Progress!

On the music front, this evening featured the debut of the HJS Jam Moves card in performance:

This worked surprisingly well for improving the musicality of our jams. One person told me, “I was talking to a friend and then you guys made a change in your jam and I told them, ‘I have to go listen now.’”

Larry recorded the show from his drumkit. Here’s a song where the jam (starting around 4:00) featured a drop out followed by call and response:

In other news, Matt had the idea of inserting the Harry Hood jam into China-Rider. It worked great and several people commented to me how much they enjoyed it.
